Man shot dead
A rubber tapper was shot dead while driving a motorcycle in a remote area in Pattani's Kok Pho district, police said yesterday.
Somchai Chainui, 49, was heading home after work when an unknown number of men with 9mm handguns fired at least 13 shots at him. Police found spent cartridges at the scene.
A gallon of latex was lying near the motorbike and Somchai’s body three metres away. His 9mm pistol was missing. He was also a defence volunteer for the village.
Police will investigate whether a personal conflict was involved or it was the work of insurgents.
