Remembering the beauty of Koh Samet's Ao Phrao

Remembering the beauty of Koh Samet's Ao Phrao

More and more people have been paying attention to news of the Rayong oil spill after it hit Koh Samet's Ao Phrao beach, ruining its beautiful white sands and crystal clear waters. The beach is on the west of the island.

While media reports over the past week have been focusing on the sad state of affairs and the efforts to clean up, Like It, Share It invited social-media users and readers of The Nation to share their memories of the time when the area was beautiful.
Mana Treelayapewat shared this photograph of the beach on Facebook, saying: “In memory of Ao Phrao #KohSamet. Semester break last year, I took my two kids to enjoy the clean and clear seawater. There is no such thing anymore. I feel sad for my grandchildren. They won’t see the white sands anymore.”
Fluke Samed shared a photograph of Ao Luke Yon, another beautiful spot on Koh Samet. This picture was taken in September 2010.
@ConstanceJocson and a friend are seen enjoying themselves at Ao Phrao beach saying “Thailand, you will be missed #kohsamet #beachbetch.” She posted the photo on July 26.
@nares_kttv shared this photograph taken at Koh Samet’s Sai Kaew beach last week.

@Raksanalee shared this photograph of herself posing against the sign of Koh Samet.
