Verdict in city fire trucks case delayed

The Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Persons Holding Political Positions yesterday postponed the reading of verdicts on charges against five people in relation to the 2004 Bangkok City Hall purchase of fire trucks and boats.

The verdicts will now be handed down on September 10 at 10am.
The court also issued an arrest warrant for former deputy interior minister Pracha Maleenont for failing to show up at the court yesterday without explanation. Officials said he had been notified to do so and his guarantor was ordered to be fined Bt2 million.
The lawsuit was filed in July 2011 by the National Anti-Corruption Commission against former interior minister Bhokin Bhalakula and his deputy Pracha Maleenont, former commerce minister Wattana Muangsuk, former director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Fire and Rescue Department Pol Maj-General Atilak Tanchukiat, and former Bangkok governor Apirak Kosayodhin.
