New tasks for NHA boss

New tasks for NHA boss

Social Development and Human Security Minister Pavena Hongsakul yesterday instructed Krisda Raksakul, the newly appointed governor of National Housing Authority (NHA), to tackle the issue of Ban Eua Arthorn leaseholders and speedily complete the remaining

After meeting Krisda yesterday, Pavena said the ministry had a long-term plan to build Ban Eua Arthorn condominiums along the new Skytrain extensions so middle-income people could live near their workplaces. She said she also urged Krisada to allow the private sector to rent some 2,000 empty plots in downtown areas for a period of 30 years in a bid to help the NHA pay off its Bt45-billion debt. The agency owns 7,000 such plots nationwide.
She also raised the issue of some leaseholders renting their Ban Eua Arthorn units at very high prices, which in turn is blocking poor people’s access to low-cost housing. Apart from helping the poor, the ministry also wants to boost state officials’ access to Ban Eua Arthorn estates, she added.
