Another 86 Rohingya escape

Another 86 Rohingya escape

Some 86 Rohingya of the 137 charged with entering Thailand illegally managed to break out of the Immigration Office's detention building in Songkhla's Sadao district yesterday.

The detainees apparently climbed up to the roof through the ceiling before abseiling down the eight-metre-high building and escaping via the rubber plantation at the back of the building.
The immigration officials have called on Sadao border district for help to track down the suspects, who are believed to be hiding in a rubber plantation in Tambon Samnak Kham. Thai authorities nabbed two of the detainees, while Malaysian soldiers have arrested the three who crossed the border. The remaining suspects are still at large.
This is the second time this month that Rohingya detainees have escaped. On August 9, 30 managed to get out of the detention building in Songkhla provincial immigration office.
