Ruangkrai asks Constitution Court to dissolve Democrat

Former senator Ruangkrai Likitwatana on Monday filed a petition with the Constitution Court seeking the dissolution of the Democrat Party and the banning of Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and Surat Thani MP Suthep Thaugsuban from elections.

The former senator asked the court to rule whehter Abhisit and Suthep had violated Article 68 of the charter. He alleged them with trying to overthrow the democratic regime of government with the King as the Head of the State.
If Suthep and Abhisit’s actions were deemed as violations of Article 68, the court should order the Democrat Party be dissolved and should ban the two from elections for five years, Ruangkrai said in the petition.
