Trang governor supports 'elected government'

Trang Governor Somsak Parisuttho Hemthanon explained that he put up a banner announcing his support for a democratic government in front of his official residence because he was proud of his role in the fight for democracy in 1973 and 1976.

The banner read: "I support democracy, a constitutional monarchy and a government that comes from election."

He said he would support any democratically elected government, not necessarily one that is led by Pheu Thai Party. "I only want to express my political stance," he said.

Somsak has been criticised for putting up the message, which many see as him openly supporting the government, and therefore, the blanket amnesty bill.
