Mubarak retrial resumes behind closed doors

Cairo (dpa) - The retrial of ousted Egyptian president Hosny Mubarak is to resume Saturday in Cairo at a closed session with testimony from two ex-officials, reported state media.

Mubarak, 85, is being retried on charges of failing to prevent the killing of more than 800 peaceful protesters in the uprising that forced him out of power in 2011.
The court has ordered a series of closed sessions to cross-examine former officials, citing national security concerns.
Mubarak has been staying at a Cairo military hospital serving house arrest since his release from prison in a corruption case in August.
It is not clear yet if he will be allowed to go free after a state of emergency, under which his house arrest was enforced, ended Thursday.
