Four villagers massacred in Pattani

Pattani - Four villagers were massacred in this southern border province apparently by insurgents while they were catching crabs in a mangrove forest Tuesday night police said.

Police said the massacre took place in Tambon Bangkhao in Nong Chik district at 7 pm Tuesday.
Police went to inspect the scene at 10:30 am Wednesday.
Police said ten men travelled in a pick-up truck to the mangrove forest to catch crabs and they were fired at by four men who arrived on two motorcycles.
Five of them escaped the shooting by running deeper into the forest and another was still unaccounted for.
The assailants dragged the bodies of the four slain villagers to the road and left them there.
They were identified as Charan Suksamran, Thammanoon Panyaen, Natthapol Panarat, and Pisal Bangbiew.
