Pheu Thai challenges Suthep on election threat
The Pheu Thai Party yesterday petitioned the Election Commission to launch an probe into the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) for allegedly violating the election law.
Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit filed the petition after PDRC secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban announced his intention to obstruct the election. Suthep also said he would push for the election to be postponed.
Prompong noted that Suthep had said Nitithorn Lamlua, an adviser to the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand (STR), would lead protesters to obstruct candidacy registration next week. As a result, Suthep and Nitithorn clearly intended to obstruct the election process, Prompong alleged.
