Charter court judge's home, hospital and commercial buildings targetted by grenades
The home of one of the Constitutional Court judges who ruled to remove the caretaker premier over an unlawful transfer was target of a bomb attack early Thursday morning but no one was injured.
Last night, just hours after Yingluck Shinawatra and her nine Cabinet members were dismissed, two M79 grenades were lobbed at Chulabhorn Hospital in Laksi district and two others at the Siam Commercial Bank head office in Lat Phrao district. The three attacks caused damage to property.
An M67 hand grenade was hurled into the home of Suphot Kaimuk in Lat Phrao Soi 34 at around 2am. The blast caused minor damage to the roof of a carport as well as a vehicle parked inside.
Suphot was one of the nine Constitutional Court judges who removed Yingluck and the ministers for abuse of power in the case involving the transfer of then National Security Council (NSC) chief Thawil Pliensri to an inactive post in 2011.
A closed circuit security camera captured images of a suspect wearing a baseball cap throwing the explosive into Suphot's home before running away along the Bang Sue canal. Suphot was not at home at the time of the attack.
Earlier at around 10.40pm, two M79 grenades were fired into the Siam Commercial Bank headquarters on Ratchadapisek Road.
One grenade landed on the 8th floor of the A Building, shattering windows, another landed at a McDonald's restaurant on the first floor of the west wing, causing minor damage but there were no reports of injuries.
At around 9.45pm, two M79 grenades were fired into Princess Chulabhorn Hospital near Bang Khen market in Lak Si district. One of the projectiles landed in a room for doctors on the ninth floor. Another grenade fell in front of the hospital and damaged a window of a taxi, but again no injuries were reported.
