Suchat said he had assigned his deputy Kobkiat Kasiwiwat to review inmates of concern and analyse details from each prison on who had dealt in drugs from behind bars and should be sent to Khao Bin Prison in Ratchaburi, the country’s “super-max” facility.
Deputy chief of the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Prayong Preeyajit had instructed officials to probe and pinpoint grounds within 30 days for legal action against officials who take bribes over drug cases. The PACC has reviewed 27 cases and launched five indictments.
Probation Department chief Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol said a faster procedure for forced drug rehabilitation was in place and only 10 per cent of those underwent this returned to using drugs.
