Cut power use, energy office tells people in South

The Trang Energy Office yesterday called on people in the South to cut their electricity usage or face possible power shortages or blackouts due to ongoing maintenance of a natural gas pipeline.

The office has adopted a so-called 3:1 energy measure, with residents urged to turn off one air conditioner, turn up the temperature of air conditioners by one degree and turn off at least one light.
Between 6pm and 10pm is the period where power shortages or blackouts are most likely to occur while work is being carried out on the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (JDA) pipeline. Work is slated to continue until July 10.
The office’s hotlines are 1129 or 1416.
