Campaign to check on |monks who misbehave

The National Office of Buddhism (NOB) will on Friday launch a 24-hour hotline to accept complaints about Thai monks who behave inappropriately.

In response to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s instruction to the NOB to tackle social issues, especially the wayward monks, NOB director Nopparat Benchawattananant said they would launch the hotline to gather complaints . The number is (02) 441 6400 press 2. The working team would gather the complaints each month and forward the cases to head monks to punish the offenders.
Nopparat also would soon propose implementation of Buddhism Protec-tion draft legislation to bring clarity to the wayward monks’ punishments.
