Two rangers killed, five injured in Narathiwat ambushed

Narathiwat - Two rangers were killed and five others injured in an ambush by insurgents in this southern border province Sunday evening.

Police said the five rangers were attacked on their way to their base in Irtaetae village in Si Sa Khon district at 6:50 pm.

The rangers were about one kilometer from their base when about five insurgents fired at them. The two sides exchanged gunfire for about five minutes.

All the seven rangers were injured and rushed to the Si Sa Khon Hospital. But Wisanu Nuankaew, 32, and Natthapong Pimrat, 28, died of sustained wounds at the hospital.
