	Nakhon Yala Mayor Pongsak Yingchoncharoen said the drought has affected the tap water production for more than 16,200 people in the Yala municipality district.<br />
	The province is in urgent need of the artificial rains to alleviate the drought now that the water level of Pattani river, the main source of water, was very low.<br />
	The municipality earlier asked the Bang Lan dam to provide raw water but was refused. The dam said it had only 24% of water and it had to provide water to help Pattani province tackle the problem of salty water.<br />
	Yala province said it needed artificial rains during this period before monsoons arrived in November and December.&nbsp;</p>

Yala requests for artificial rains

Yala authorities are asking the Agriculture Ministry to conduct artificial rains as the province has been hit by drought for more than six months.
