Yala requests for artificial rains

Yala requests for artificial rains

Yala authorities are asking the Agriculture Ministry to conduct artificial rains as the province has been hit by drought for more than six months.

Nakhon Yala Mayor Pongsak Yingchoncharoen said the drought has affected the tap water production for more than 16,200 people in the Yala municipality district.
The province is in urgent need of the artificial rains to alleviate the drought now that the water level of Pattani river, the main source of water, was very low.
The municipality earlier asked the Bang Lan dam to provide raw water but was refused. The dam said it had only 24% of water and it had to provide water to help Pattani province tackle the problem of salty water.
Yala province said it needed artificial rains during this period before monsoons arrived in November and December.
