Govt to hold celebration for winning Thai athletes
The government will hold a celebration late this month to mark the success of Thai athletes who have competed in several international competitions this year.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will chair the event, which is aimed to boost their spirit, on October 28 at Government House.
The Tourism and Sports Ministry said many Thai athletes have achieved outstanding results in international competitions, making particular mention of the national women’s football team, who will go to the final World Football rounds in Canada.

Others include the eight medallists at the Youth Olympics 2014 in China and 47 athletes from the recent Asian Games 2014 in South Korea.
The ministry will be rewarding athletes, their coaches and the sport organisations that support them with a total of Bt103 million. It will also bring the national contingent to the 2014 Asian Para Games to meet General Prayuth for his advice and blessing on October 8 before their departure for South Korea.
