More Buddhist lives at stake in South

More Buddhist lives at stake in South

Suspected insurgents put up banners threatening to retaliate against the authority's actions by claiming more Buddhist lives, while hoax bombs were found at four locations in Narathiwat's Muang, Yi-ngor and Bacho district early yesterday.

The signs, written in Thai, said that as long as the “returning happiness policy” continued pointing guns at religious or community leaders, religious teachers and Malayu people, more Buddhist teachers and people would be killed.
In related news, police investigating the shooting – in which a Jaroon Srichan, 62, was killed and his wife Tuanjai Boonkliang, 48, wounded in Si Sakhon district – said the group led by Muhama Dayani was behind the attack. The seven-strong group of insurgents is also believed to be behind attacks against security officers in the district.
