369 migrant women married to Thais finally get citizenship

After a decade of waiting, 369 migrant women finally got their prized Thai citizenship cards.

Deputy Interior Minister Suthi Makbun said yesterday that the list of migrant workers, who had married with Thais, was published in the Royal Gazette on November 27 after Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda approved their nationalisation requests that were sent on October 10.
This was an important event because the process had been suspended for such a long time.
There were clear examples of model migrants such as Dullasit Sanit Wong Na Ayutthaya, a man, and Naan Sitong, a married woman.
They thanked us today, he said.
“They had waited for this chance for 10 years.”
