“Solarco” is a case study of high efficient solar power plant which can be guaranteed by higher electricity generation index compared with general Fixed System solar power plants. Solarco has a value of 24% above average value of 20%; it’s as good as Tracking System type.
Solarco Co., Ltd. was formed as a joint venture company between EGCO Group and Yanhee Solar Power Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Yanhee hospital) in a shareholding proportion of 49:51 percent respectively which developed 6 solar power plants in Banglen district, Nakorn Prathom province and Song Peenong district, Suphanburi province. All these six plants have been installed by Polycrystalline solar panels and Fixed System type laying horizontally with around 12 degree angle. Each of them has a capacity of 9.5 MW under Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs) with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA).
The distinctive point of Solarco is as one of large-scale solar power plants in Thailand which has a total generation capacity of 57 MW, as much as 45,000 households’ electricity consumption.
We could expect more efficient than standard from solar power generation by suitable design, equipment selection and geographical location with proper solar density. Solarco has been concentrating on the power plant maintenance with higher availability payment especially solar panels’ cleanliness and other factors that will affect the efficiency of solar power generation. Moreover, Solarco has also cooperated with public sector to connect its electricity generation system to distribution system efficiently.
Meanwhile, each solar power plant has no different in electricity generation procedures, but there are a few restrictions like location or solar density. It’s quite hard for reliance on only solar energy. Fuel-mix diversification in power generation will strengthen the country’s power security.
