Sappasit released on Bt5 million bail

Sappasit released on Bt5 million bail

Bangkok's Min Buri Court yesterday granted a bail request of Bt5 million for Sappasit Limnorarat, former deputy rector of King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Latkrabang (KMITL).

After he surrendered to police to fight the charges related to the high-profile siphoning off Bt1.5 billion from KMITL bank accounts, the 51-year-old Sappasit applied for the first 12-day detention period until March 12 pending a police investigation and interviews of 15 witnesses.
Sappasit was charged with five serious offences – theft, forgery of official documents, embezzlement, negligence and money laundering – just as former KMITL rector Thawil Phuengma was charged on Tuesday.
