Nation raises Bt8.169 million for Nepal quake victims

Nation Group has raised a total Bt8,169,300 for victims of Nepal earthquake victims from the Thai public.

Part of the receipt was handed over to Unicef and the rest to Kathmandu Post, a member of Asia News Network (which The Nation is a member) - in simultaneus ceremonies in Bangkok and Kathmandu Friday.
 
Nation Group adviser Suthichai Yoon delivered the donation to Unicef Thailand Representative Bijara Rajbhandari at Nation TV headquarters in Bangkok; while Nation Group Editor Thepchai Yong flew to Kathmandu to hand over the money to Kantipur National Crisis Assistance Trust. Kantipur Group, the publisher of Kathmandu Post, will be transferring the donation to Nepalese Prime Minister Relief Fund.
 
More than 8,000 people died from the devastating earthquake which hit Nepal on April 25. Millions have been left homeless and the economy shattered.
 
The Thai public has been forthcoming in supporting Nepal with many fund raising events organised in the past month. Nation Group's staff have joined Dr Thiem Chokwattana Foundation, Pueng Thao Kong Ma Shrine,the Coast Bangna and many other organisations, communities, organisations and individuals to donate money for the earthquake victims.
