Thai AirAsia X temporarily suspends flights to Sapporo

Thai AirAsia X will temporarily suspend services to Sapporo from August 1 onwards, as Japan's relaxation on safety standards is expired.

In a statement, the airline said that Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul routes remain as scheduled.
The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) this month raised the red flag on Thailand's safety standards. It also gave Thailand four months to improve the standards.
The turn of events is regrettable due to Sapporo being a high potential destination with year-round travel attractions, said Nadda Buranasiri, CEO of Thai AirAsia X.
All passengers who previously booked flights to travel from Bangkok to Sapporo from July 31 onward and from Sapporo to Bangkok from August 1 onward are urged to switch to earlier travel date or change the destination to Tokyo for free of charge. They can also save the credit for a future purchase of goods and services or receive a full refund.
Thai AirAsia X has been able to secure temporary permission from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau or JCAB for a daily flight from Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport to New Chitose Airport (CTS) of Sapporo.
