DSI to hear testimony on plots Supachai sold

DSI to hear testimony on plots Supachai sold

Alisa Asavabhokhin - the daughter of Land & Houses Plc chairman Anant Asavabhokin - will testify to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on July 2 about her purchase of land plots in Pathum Thani from former Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative cha

Supachai allegedly bought the land using money he had embezzled from the credit union.
Pol Lt-Colonel Somboon Sarasit, commander of DSI's Special Criminal Cases Office 3, said the agency had met up yesterday to speed up the Klongchan embezzlement case, which has caused more than Bt10 billion in damages, to submit to public prosecutors by July.
More charges will be filed against others involved in this case, including irregularities in the annual accounts between 2009-2012, as they did not match reality, Somboon said. He explained that the books stated that the cooperative still had profits enabling it to pay dividends, though the fact was that cooperative was suffering losses worth nearly Bt1 billion per year.
Since such bookkeeping required the board’s approval and if the accounting was faulty, then those involved, including the state officials who checked the books, would also face charges, Somboon said.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission will further investigate the case, he added.
The DSI team led by Pol Lt-Colonel Pakorn Suchivakul has seized 23 plots of land in Nakhon Ratchasima province that are owned by Supachai to investigate if they are linked to the embezzlement case, Somboon added.
