Arrest warrant issued over deadly bombing

An arrest warrant was issued yesterday for a Pattani man allegedly involved in the deadly motorcycle bomb attack at a karaoke bar in Padang Besa Municipality of Songkhla's Sadao district on July 10.

Sulaiman Samoh, 33, from Pattani’s Khok Pho district, is also accused of being the man who parked a car bomb at Songkhla’s Hat Yai District Police Station on May 6 last year.
Sulaiman, identified by one of the three wounded victims (three people died) as the person who parked the motorcycle bomb at the scene, faces the following charges: terrorism; attempted murder; conspiring to damage others’ properties; causing an explosion that led to deaths, injuries and property damages; and having and using an illegal explosive.
Meanwhile, Justice Ministry deputy permanent secretary Chanchao Chaiyanukit yesterday revealed that the Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre had proposed paroling former militant Sama-ae Thanam, 63, on the condition that he report periodically to authorities until his full sentence was completed.
Sama-ae, a former key figure in the Pattani United Liberation Organisation, was released from the Central Yala Prison on Friday after serving nearly 18 years of a 27-year sentence for terrorist offences.
Chanchao said there were 300 national security inmates from the deep South and the Corrections Department, the SBPAC and the Internal Security Operations Command’s 4th Region Front Command were reviewing individuals’ information for possible parole or a jail term reduction.
