Myanmar's visa exemption starts on Aug 11

Myanmar's visa exemption starts on Aug 11

Starting August 11, holders of Thai passports travelling to Myanmar by plane will no longer need visa.

The agreement was signed today by the foreign ministers of both countries - Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn and Wunna Maung Lwin, after the 8th Myanmar-Thailand Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation. The two-day meeting in Chiang Mai was concluded today.
Both countries believe that this agreement would enhance connectivity and facilitate the travelling of their citizens.
The visa waiver applies only to those who travel by air. It allows a 14-day stay.
Myanmar is the last country in Asean to waive visa requirements for Thai visitors.
Both ministers also agreed to boost bilateral trade to US$10-$12 billion by 2017, particularly in the border areas.
