Ovec to work with Aussies

Ovec to work with Aussies

Thailand sees benefits in adopting South Australia's Technical and Further Education (TAFE) system.

“We have found that TAFE SA (South Australia) is indeed of good quality and of good standard. So, we are now preparing several projects in cooperation with South Australia,” Chaipreuk Sereerak, secretary-general of the Vocational Education Commission, said last week.
The Thai side plans to ask the Australian state to arrange short training courses for teachers, lecturers and students.
“We have also informed South Australia that we are interested in developing vocational education in new fields particularly those related to the ‘Digital Economy’,” he said.
His office hopes that South Australia would agree to dispatch its teachers to provide English training so that Thais can improve their skills in that language.
“We are also planning to provide our students and teachers with opportunities to attend a variety of training courses in Australia,” he said.
The office was keen to implement “training of the trainers” particularly through collaboration with entrepreneurs.
Australia has expertise in this field, so working with South Australia would be fruitful, he added.
