Somkid oversees economic, foreign affairs
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Tuesday formally assigned Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak to be in charge of economic and foreign affairs, Government Spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said.
Sansern said Prayut divided responsibilities among the six deputies during the weekly Cabinet meeting.
Somkid was assigned to supervise the Finance Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry, the Transport Ministry, the Commerce Ministry, the Science Ministry and the Industry Ministry.
Deputy Prime Minister Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn was assigned to supervise the Tourism and Sports Ministry and the Culture Ministry.
In the previous Cabinet, Tanasak was also in charge of the Foreign Ministry.
Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan was assigned to oversee the Defence Ministry, the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Labour Ministry, the Royal Thai Police, the National Intelligence Agency, the National Security Council, and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre.
Deputy Prime Minister ADM Narong Pipatanasai was assigned to be in charge of the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, the Public Health Ministry, and the Office the Consumers Protection Board.
Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Juntong is now supervising the Information and Communications Technology Ministry, the Energy Ministry, the Education Ministry, and the National Research Council of Thailand.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreangam was assigned to supervise the Justice Ministry, the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the PM's Office, the Public Relations Department, the National Office of Buddhism, and the Office of the Royal Society.
