DSI files charges against 7 more Klongchan officials

DSI files charges against 7 more Klongchan officials

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) yesterday filed fraud charges against seven more officials at the Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative, including a former deputy manager.

The total number of suspects has hit 13. The investigators should be ready to indict the accused by the end of this month, Pol Lt-Colonel Somboon Sarasit, head of the DSI Bureau of Special Crime 3, said.
The accused officials are Janchai Khanthahat, Wanpen Yoddee, Sirapat Phophrom, Thanakorn Nambundit, Warisa Ekchaijindawat, Krissada Meeboonmak and Natthawat Piyapatmethee, he added.
DSI investigators found that they had allegedly conspired with former chairman Supachai Srisupa-aksorn (currently in detention) to doctor the cooperative’s 2009-12 reports to show that it had made profits and was able to pay 10 per cent dividend to members, he said. However, at the time, cooperatives had actually suffered annual losses worth millions of baht, he added.
Somboon said DSI was gathering evidence against an official at the Cooperative Promotion Department to submit to the National Anti-Corruption Commission for failing to investigate the cooperative and it should be ready by October.
