KTB loan scandal inmate dies

FORMER Krisda Mahanakorn Group executive Subin Sangsuwanmekha - recently jailed along with other ex-executives over the multibillion-baht Krungthai Bank illegal loan scandal - has died from liver disease

Bangkok Remand Prison director Ayut Sinthoppan broke the news yesterday.
Ayut said the 65-year-old was treated at the Medical Correctional Hospital since being imprisoned on August 26 before being sent to Yunhee Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon.
Ayut said there were 16 prisoners linked to the loan scandal.
Four were sentenced to 18 years and are being detained in Klong Prem Central Prison.
They are KTB’s former board chairman Suchai Jaovisidha, ex-KTB president Viroj Nualkhair, ex-KTB board member Matchima Kunchorn na Ayutthaya and former KTB executive Pairoj Rattanasopa.
Former KTB executive Boonlert Sricharoen was being detained at Bangkok Remand Prison but has diabetes and his body is swollen, so he has been sent to the Medical Correctional Hospital indefinitely.
