THAIS should love each other, stay in harmony and stop brawling, a 14-year-old student suggested yesterday after Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha presented him with a prize for winning a government-sponsored drawing contest.

Anuchit Sakethong, from Luangporparn Khlongdarn Anusorn School in Samut Prakan province, won the first prize in the drawing contest titled “Our Home, Our Country Together”, jointly organised by the Public Relations Department and the PM’s Office.
During a ceremony yesterday at Government House, Prayut presented Anuchit with a scholarship worth Bt10,000.
Pawana Wiriyathanasit, 8, from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University Demonstration School received a scholarship worth Bt6,000 and Warin Surakriengsak, 12, from Matthayom Wat Bungthonglang School won a scholarship worth Bt4,000.

Winning works
The three students’ works were among 929 pieces submitted in the contest for contenders between the ages of five and 15.
The contest was supposed to inspire Thai citizens’ sense of unity and togetherness to overcome obstacles for the country’s bright future, said Apinan Chantharangsi, director-general of the Public Relations Department.
Prayut said Thailand was like a tree that Thai people have to take care of and they should get rid of people who wished to destroy it.
He also asked officials to bring him the finalists’ paintings that were entered in the contest so he could sign them and hang them on the wall at Government House for everyone to enjoy.
Anuchit also urged Thai youths to keep developing their talents.
