Three foreign tourism ambassadors appointed

The Tourism Authority of Thailand has reached out to three foreign celebrities to help it revive the tourism industry in the aftermath of the deadly bombing in August.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said today that famous Hong Kong actress Michelle Yim Wai-ling, known better as Mai Suet, along with another popular actor Simon Yam Tak-Wah or Ren Dahua will be in Bangkok on September 22. They have volunteered to help Thailand, seeking no fee for the promotion. Mai Suet will perform in front of the Erawan Shrine.
During August and September, Thailand is expected to lose 1.3 million international visitors and nearly Bt70 billion in tourism revenue.
On September 15, TAT’s office in Los Angeles hired a Hollywood actress, Elisabeth Rohm, to wear and present Thai silk at the Threads of Thailand event, which was staged to introduce Thai culture and Thai silk to Americans.
