Supreme Court dismisses Thaksin's suit

Thaksin's lawyer told the Court that Suthep, who was then deputy prime minister, implied during a parliamentary session and in interviews with reporters between February 3-5, 2009 that Thaksin preferred a presidential system.

The Supreme Court ruled that the plaintiff was a public figure who had volunteered to assume a political position. As prime minister, his performance had an effect on people nationwide. Therefore, he had to face scrutiny at a higher level than ordinary people.
