Protesters mark October 14, 1973 fight for democracy
Hundreds of people joined the October 14 commemoration event hosted by anti-coup groups on Wednesday evening.
The hosts were Resistant Citizens, New Democracy Movement, and Democracy Studies. The event kicked off at the October 14 Memorial before the participants marched to the Democracy Monument, where they lit candles and sang in remembrance of those killed fighting against dictatorship in 1973.
The participants also delivered some speeches promoting democracy and attacking the junta before dispersing at about 8pm.
There were some hundred policemen on standby and no sign of violence.
