Air Asia X flight to Japan abruptly returned to Bangkok after irregularity detected

An AirAsia X flight from Bangkok on the way to Narita Airport yesterday abruptly returned to Bangkok for safety reason after “an irregularity” was detected. 

The airline’s statement said the flight XJ 606 departed Don Mueang International Airport at 10.40am with 343 passengers on board.

“During the flight, an irregularity was detected and for safety reasons, the flight returned to Don Mueang International Airport at 11.25am.” However the statement did not give further details on the irregularity.

Upon arrival, all passengers were transferred to a new aircraft, which departed from Don Mueang International Airport at 1pm and is scheduled to arrive in Tokyo Narita International Airport at 9pm, causing a 2.20 hours delay from the original scheduled time.

“Thai AirAsia X apologizes for any inconveniences caused as we continue to work towards ensuring the utmost safety for all passengers.”
