Lese majeste suspect dies after hanging himself in detention cell
One of three lese majeste suspects detained at a temporary prison has died after he was found hanging himself in his detention cell, the Corrections Department chief announced Saturday.
Witthaya Suriyawong, director general of the Corrections Department, announced in a press statement that Prakrom Warunprapha was found hanging from a bar in his cell at 10 pm Friday.
He was still alive when he was found and officials gave him resuscitation and rushed him to the prison hospital where he was pronounced dead, Witthaya said in a press statement.
Prakrom was one of three suspects held at the temporary prison following an approval of the military court on Wednesday.
