City to hire KMITL for design, plan on riverside promenade

THE Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will make a Bt120-million consultation deal with King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Lat Krabang (KMITL) over the Chao Phraya River promenade project.

It has been reported that the BMA’s Department of Public Works will sign the |contract this month.
KMITL will be responsible for research, design and the setting up of a master plan for the promenade, including a public hearing on the project, which will affect people living along the river. Public opinion will also be sought on the project’s plan, details and budget. KMITL will be given seven months to complete the job.
The consultation will be split in two. The first part will be on the master plan on 57 kilometres of the Chao Phraya riverside development from Rama VII Bridge to Rama IX Bridge overall, while the second will be on a design of 7km of the promenade from Rama VII Bridge to Pinklao Bridge. – The Nation
