Two foreigners killed in accidents
A former British MBA lecturer fell to his death from his Bangkok apartment yesterday, while a Western tourist was killed after reportedly jumping in front of a tour bus in Phuket’s Patong district.
Following a report at 10.30am, police inspected the scene on Soi Sukhumvit 70/1 and the 57-year-old man’s rented room on sixth floor, which showed no sign of rummaging or any struggle. Police were still probing if this was an accidental fall from the balcony or a suicide.
In Phuket, police were trying to identify the foreigner in his 40s. Bus driver Somkhit Wongpan told police he was carrying 20 Chinese tourists from the airport to Patong when the man walked onto the road. The driver switched lanes to avoid hitting the man but he “jumped” in front of the bus. Police were investigating if the man’s death was accidental or intentional.
