Nakhon Si Thammarat later Monday announced 88 villages in 19 tambons of six districts to be wave-affected. The ‘highest tide rise in 50 years’ saw up to fourmetrehigh waves hitting Pak Phanang’s coastal areas flooding residential homes, farmland and fishponds. It also made parts of the beachside Pak PhanangHua Sai Road in Tambon Khanab Nak and Tha Phraya impassable – a three-kilometre section of which also saw high waves crossing the lane to hit dozens of homes.
