'Rajabhakti Park project probe thoroughly conducted'

'Rajabhakti Park project probe thoroughly conducted'

Auditor-General Pisit Leelavachiropas yesterday insisted his agency’s probe, which found no corruption in the Rajabhakti Park project, had been carried out with the same standards used to inspect any agencies and had thoroughly covered all points.

Following the National Anti-Corruption Centre meeting yesterday, Pisit said the probe didn’t find an illegal commission payment but merely a consultant fee paid by five foundries, although the agency would re-check for clarity because it would be presenting the information to the centre again.
Regarding several points Justice Minister General Paiboon Koomchaya had said the agency should investigate, he answered the agency wasn’t told to probe anything further and affirmed no one could order this independent agency to check or not check anything.
Pisit affirmed that the agency had thoroughly checked on all documents from the Army, public and private sectors as well as the foundries including visiting the construction site. Leaving no stone unturned, he said the probe was complete and he didn’t need to interview fugitives Colonel Kachachat Boondee and Maj Gen Suchart Prommai, who were accused of being involved in alleged irregularities related to the project. He also urged people to be calm and wait for the centre’s announcement of the probe’s results.
