Regent’s teams up with University of London international programmes

For the first time, Regent’s International College (RIC) will provide local teaching support in key subjects through its Bangkok campus.

Courses on offer include economics, management, finance and the social sciences (EMFSS) with academic direction provided by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as well as the University of London’s International Foundation Programme (IFP).

On successful completion of their studies, students will be awarded a University of London degree and diploma. The certificate will state that students were registered with the University of London and that examinations were conducted by the LSE (for EMFSS) or by the University of London (for IFP).

The courses are being introduced as Thailand joins the Asean Economic Community (AEC) and the workforce is required to compete on a more international basis for job opportunities in the region.

With a greater need for internationally recognised qualifications, programmes introduced at Regent’s International College are aimed at enhancing current offerings in Thailand and to give students the chance to attain world-class qualifications.

“We have worked closely with the University of London to offer these courses in Thailand. We believe it will be a very attractive proposition to Thailand’s Asean-based students who want to give themselves the best chance to succeed in the job market – and do so close to home, giving them the best of both worlds,” said RIC chairman Dr Virachai Techavijit.

“We are excited about this development which will enable us to provide local teaching support for prestigious internationally recognised programmes. These new courses strengthen our higher education programmes and we believe they will encourage more students to join us at our campus,” said RIC executive director Nitin Dutta.

“The United Kingdom is recognised as one of the world’s leading educational providers. Holding a degree from the University of London gives prospective employees considerable leverage, and I am delighted to see efforts being made to make these programmes more accessible to those who wish to study in Thailand,” said British Ambassador Mark Kent.

Since 1858, University of London degrees have been accessible to students all over the world through the ULIP. Today, the ULIP have over 50,000 students in more than 180 countries.
