‘Ja New’ says he is facing more charges

A pro-democracy Thammasat University student activist, Sirawith Seritiwat, popularly known as “Ja New”, yesterday posted a message on his Facebook page saying he is facing another charge of violating the conditions of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) h

Sirawith was prohibited under the MoU from making any political moves following the so-called “sandwich party” activity in the centre of Bangkok where he had been intercepted along with others.
Sirawith then joined others in an event in 2015 called, the “(Dearing) Stolen Election”, and was charged for political gathering prohibited by an NCPO order.
He then was charged again after a trip to Rajabhakti Park in Prachub Khirikhan province this year.
However, the police saw that his participation in the election event in 2015 was a violation of the MOU’s conditions. So, they have decided to pursue another charge, but have only recently informed him about it.
The police will summon him on March 8 to Pathumwan Police Station to acknowledge the charge, said the activist.
