Special rate to be proposed for excessive water usage in April

Special rate to be proposed for excessive water usage in April

THE JOINT Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking of the three private institutions (JSCCIB) plans to propose that the government charge people at a special rate for water that exceeded their normal usage rate in April when compared with last

This would serve as an incentive for the private sector and public members to refrain from using tap water wastefully during Songkran and boost city dwellers’ participation in saving water amid the drought ravaging many parts of Thailand, Thai Bankers’ Association adviser Twatchai Yongkittikul said following the JSCCIB meeting yesterday.
The vice chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Wichai Atratkon, said JSCCIB will also host a seminar on saving water on March 29 for business establishments, factories and households to reduce water consumption by at least 30 per cent by June. Some 100 JSCCIB members would serve as models for this activity, he added.
