14 suspects linked to six violent incidents in deep South

Fourteen suspects have been arrested over the past two days for alleged roles in six violent incidents in the deep South, including the March 13 raid on the Joh-I-Rong Hospital in Narathiwat, security officials told the press at the 46th paramilitary rang

Colonel Yutthanam Phetmaung, deputy spokesman for the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Front Command, said after initial interrogation, three of the 14 suspects were found to be linked to the hospital raid, three were found linked to the bomb attack on three military officers and another four linked to an assault on a security officials’ base. The last two attacks occurred on March 13. 
The rest of the suspects were allegedly involved in a bombing on January 30, 2013 of a team of patrolling soldiers, plus the April 29, 2013 gun attack on Joh I Rong soldiers and the September 13, 2015 motorcycle bomb in Ra-ngae district. They are also believed to have harboured other insurgents. 
Meanwhile, unknown culprits on a motorbike opened fire at a noodle stall in Songkhla’s Saba Yoy district yesterday afternoon, wounding three women. Police were investigating if the attack was due to a personal conflict or part of the ongoing unrest.
