Pattani reporter and friend shot dead
A Pattani news reporter and his friend, a member of the Jalanan Baru anti-drug project, were shot dead in Yala’s Muang district yesterday morning.
Police went to the scene of the attack, a rubber plantation in Tambon Yupo, at about 6.30am and found the body of the reporter, Abdul-azis Salae. His friend Duroning Samoh was pronounced dead at Yala Hospital.
Neighbours told police they heard a car in the area about 4am and heard several gunshots. It is suspected the attack was the result of a personal conflict or the region’s ongoing unrest.
