Three police killed in Rangae ambush
THREE POLICE officers were killed and six seriously injured in Narathiwat’s Rangae district yesterday afternoon when insurgents armed with M79 rifles ambushed the team.
The police team was on its way to investigate the March 13 Joh I Rong Hospital raid. The ambush in Tambon Bo Ngo sent the police truck crashing into a tree as the assailants approached to shoot at the police at close range.
The bodies of Pol Captain Ekkachai Niseng, Pol Sgt-Major Anuwat Korapalong and Pol Lance Corporal Rachakrit Awae were found in the bullet-ridden truck and six others – Pol Major Vithee Chuaysen, Pol Lieutenant Amnat Leungsanit, Pol Lieutenant Suchat Ananprasert, Pol Corporal Theerayuth Luanthong, Pol Corporal Arunrat Sombatyanuchit and Pol Lance Corporal Iddris Da-oh – were rushed to hospital.
