NCPO may rope in red bowl MPs for ethics course

The National Council for Peace and Order is considering detaining politicians who distributed Songkran red bowls for a seven-day training course in re-education camps on ethics for national leaders.

NCPO deputy chief of public relations centre, Col Piyapong Klinpan, said NCPO legal officers were considering targeting politicians from Nan into the re-education camp as the first group. The NCPO had wanted to rope in politicians who failed to behave even though they had been summoned for “attitude adjustment” several times.
He said NCPO secretary general and Army Chief Thirachai Nakwanich had approved in seven days the curriculum of the training course that lasted 168 hours.
He said the council would have people with the following traits undergo training: those who committed offences and violated the NCPO orders, people who created national conflict and those tarnishing the image of the council and the government.
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said Monday he did not want politicians to check their popularity by counting the number of red bowls, as it would bring about further national division.
