Suu Kyi aims to free political prisoners and students
Myanmar’s State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi will be working towards freeing all political prisoners as well as detained activists and imprisoned students that are currently facing trial, according to the Counselor's Office’s announcement Thursday.
The announcement said this “priority” targets could be achieved by using powers of the president to grant amnesty as allowed by the Constitution with the support from the National Defence and Security Council, to all who are either serving their prison terms or undergoing trials.
Moreover all on-going cases that are being investigated by state lawyers can be withdrawn with the support of the courts.
