Maepranom case set for new talks to resolve spat

Maepranom case set for new talks to resolve spat

THE founder of famous chilli-paste brand Maepranom will meet with her eldest daughter again next Monday to conclude negotiations over their much-publicised conflict related to family assets.

Pranom Daengsupha earlier lodged a petition with the government asking for justice with a claim that her daughter had illegitimately taken control of the family business and estate.
Just as the scandal caught the media limelight, PM’s Office Minister ML Panadda Diskul stepped in to mediate between the two sides.
On Tuesday, he arranged for the mother and daughter to meet and talk.
“They will meet again on April 11 very likely to conclude their negotiations,” Panadda said yesterday.
According to Pranom’s lawyer, Pisit Chutipornpongchai, Pranom has asked her daughter to return shares of the chili paste company as well as plots of land in Khao Yai and Bangkok’s Nong Khaem district, which she regarded as her most treasured assets.
She also wanted her daughter to pay debts incurred from her purchase of a one-rai plot land in Bangkok’s Thawee Wattana district worth Bt20 million, which was bought with plans to establish a restaurant. Pranom also demanded Siriporn provide her with a monthly stipend of Bt1 million. She said she would withdraw all court cases if her demands were met.
Pisit said the mother and daughter had reached an understanding – but added that Pranom had not withdrawn the court cases because she feared her daughter might not keep her promises.
