Thai university to help develop vocational curriculum for  Lao-German college in Vientiane

THE RAJAMANGALA University of Technology Rattanakosin (RUTR) of Thailand in cooperation with the Lao-German Technical College in Vientiane is aiming to improve curriculum development.

A grant agreement ceremony was attended by director general of the Department for Technical and Vocational Education, Nouphanh Outsa.
The project provides for long-term cooperation in vocational training and curriculum development between the Lao-German Technical College in Vientiane and the Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin (RUTR), Somlith said.
The grant agreement was signed recently at the Lao-German Technical College by college director Somlith Virivong and the dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the RUTR, Ratthasak Prommas, in presence of representatives of USE Flo-Line and CCS Machinery who are partner companies.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Somlith said the College and BHS Corrugated last year agreed to create two new vocational training courses. “Today, we cooperated with RUTR and partner companies for improving and developing curriculums.”
The main goals of this cooperation are to support the integration process in the Asean Economic Community and to implement the teacher training, he said.
The support for training courses for industrial electronic technicians and machine operators will include mechanical, electrical and procedural components, as well as vocational courses, he added.
He explained that the course content will include the exchange of knowledge and expertise in vocational training; exchanges and scholarships for teachers; joint curriculum development; the exchange of materials and training methods; preparation of students for work in an international environment; and other activities based on mutual consent.
Ratthasak said: “We will support resource development and create two new vocational training courses for the Lao-German Technical College.”
He said they would exchange experience between Lao teachers and those of RUTR. The university will also help train Lao teachers on Teaching Technical Automation in Fluid Power Control.
Under the agreement between the Lao-German Technical College and RUTR, both parties agreed to long-term cooperation for the development of human resources and improving teaching and learning at the technical school, he said.
The CCS Machinery representative, Santichai Thanee said: “The Lao-German Technical College is a leading vocational institute in Laos and has strong links with industry. It is willing to increase its partnerships in order to |support high quality vocational education and training.”
